Kieth, (the webmaster) and Susan (webmaster's better half), have tried to provide different links so you can see what the Okanagan area is all about. It is one of the best places in Canada to live and we wish we had moved here sooner! We came here from St. Albert, Alberta and fell in love with the mountains, the weather and the relaxed lifestyle.
Where we live in Lakeview Heights, on the Westside across from Kelowna, there are few mosquitoes
(thanks to dragonflies, bats and swallows).
In fact, the whole valley from Vernon to Osoyoos has very limited mosquitos or flies. It's great to be able to sit on your deck outdoors at night and not be eaten by bugs or bothered by flies.
Greater Kelowna, including Westside is often called "the hub of the valley" and it has everything we need from the most up-to-date stores and restaurants, high tech manufacturing and small unique businesses. Westbank, across the new bridge from Kelowna is becoming a major commercial metropolis, with "big box" stores such as Home Depot, Staples and Canadian Tire. Opening soon is Wal-Mart and Winners
Kelowna, Westside, Vernon and Penticton represent some of the fastest growing areas in British Columbia and in Canada. Even with this new growth, the area has managed to keep it's small town charm while giving us every convenience of a big city. Several large malls to shop in, great downtown areas full of specialty shops, restaurants, coffee houses and constant entertainment that goes all summer long.
